Youth Parliament
When it comes to the Youth Parliament, it is a program that has been implemented almost all over the world. Especially among the Commonwealth countries.
Malaysia is one of the countries that also introduced such a program for youths in Malaysia.
In my opinion, the task of promoted the program, not an easy task. many challenges faced to earn the confidence of youth to participate as voters or candidates later.
Most importantly how to get rid of their disbelief at the Youth Parliament program. Many are asking what benefits they will get if they become voters of the Youth Parliament.
I got to know the Youth Parliament through a friend in the Youth development division when I was at the strategic branch. Every day, he diligently conducts the online registration process based on the forms distributed to the public at the exhibition location that receives visits from Malaysian youth groups.
Various locations have been identified by the officers responsible for conducting the promotion. Then the group should bring a portable promotional banners, always carry anywhere.
In terms of transportation, the use of vehicles or vehicle department officers themselves. A very new program in Malaysia, it must be quite difficult to convince the youths to participate. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the officers who do the promotion to answer all the problems raised, especially from those who are active in youth activities.
How to implement a promotion challenge ?. I honestly do not know why there is only constraint in the implementation of the program which has the support of the Minister of Youth and Sports Malaysia.
The Youth Parliament does not allocate the number of seats of Youth MPs to the same number of seats in the Dewan Rakyat. The number of Malaysian Youth MPs for each state is based on the ratio of the number of youths in a state.
For example, if the number of youths in a state, as many as 400 thousand people. So the number of youth MPs for the state is 4 people. Although there are various Associations for Malaysian Youth. but it is not enough because there is still a group of youth who do not like to join the Association. Are their interests or problems not taken care of ?.
From doing voter registration promotion, I help in terms of election promotion and the voting process that everything is done through the online system. The PBM 2.0 program is slightly different from the Youth Parliament in the United Kingdom which implements a physical voting system.
Despite the many challenges that the Secretariat must face. Alhamdulillah, the next process is to implement the first session of the Youth Parliament. Once each state has a Malaysian Youth Member of Parliament who won the online election.
I was very happy when given the confidence to be a herald for the First Conference of the Youth Parliament held in the House of Commons, the Parliament of Malaysia. An experience that will be remembered forever, I remember only one staff contract.
The service definitely has an expiration date. Malay attire is herald a formal dress for Youth Parliament. More specially, each of the Bentara is provided with walkie-talkies for ease of communicating with each other.
The Youth Parliamentary Conference is held 3 times a year, I felt like I was the Speaker of the Conference 2 times. Almost 100% of the MPs elected at that time was a great speech, during the debate on the motion there was only a very relevant point used by the youth MPs.
Before I was terminated by KBS at the end of 2015, I was given the last responsibility as a Declaration that maybe after this I will never feel it or even set foot in the Dewan Rakyat is very impossible.
My hopes & dreams for the Youth Parliament program are hopefully it will continue to be strengthened in the future because I see the country still lacks competent successor leaders, through the Youth Parliament Program, in sha Allah, the goal of making Malaysia a developed country will be realized.
