Intern Semester Break
During my period as a Student, I had various experiences from the beginning of entering the University until the Convocation. People say the experiences we glean back then, though bitter are sure to be sweet when recalled.
Even from beginning to end, I stayed in the Residential College provided by the University. However, at one point I had the opportunity to learn how to live outside the university while undergoing practical training at one of the country's GLCs.
At the beginning of my practical training, I lived in a Residential College. I was informed by the assistant hostel supervisor that I could rent at the Residential College for the duration of the practical training.
Apparently, there was a communication problem between the hostel staff. Therefore, I was required to vacate the dorm room as it was indeed the residential college party not to allow students to stay during semester breaks.
Problems began to exist, I had to live where after being kicked out of the dorm. The period of practical training is still long. After thinking about it, luckily I remembered my ex-roomate A.J. He did not return to the village because he was working part-time in Kuala Lumpur at that time. I was given permission by A.J and housemates to stay at home during my practical.
Although A.J's rental house is an apartment, when the total occupants of the house are 11 people at one time including me. It certainly causes discomfort among the occupants of the house, however that is the normal life of a University student.
Indeed, whatever happens in our lives, there must be wisdom. If I had not been kicked out of the dormitory, I would not have had the opportunity to feel the atmosphere of living outside the University, even if only for a moment.
The occupants of the apartment, 100% students, my friends too. We as University students must be good at being frugal for the next semester's expenses. A moment I will never forget when it was time for lunch or dinner. We will share money and tasks before preparing the food. Some have to go down to buy raw materials, while some have to be in the kitchen to cook.
If only 7 people want to eat, then only these 7 people spend RM1 per person, then we cook together. Our favorite side dish is definitely cheap sardines and cheap vegetables.
So far, I have had a hard time eating vegetable dishes but for this time. I ate heartily, even though the cooked rice was soft and the fried vegetables had withered. This is because of eating with friends and at the same time financial constraints.
Student life is indeed a lot of challenges, depending on whether we are able to weather it. Almost 3 months I stayed on board, my relationship with other housemates was very good even though I rarely met while at University.
The ones I was most moved by were those who were the permanent tenants of the house. Willing to allow me to stay even though I know it will make the house more crowded.
11 people, the bathroom was only 2, tolerance taught us everything even if some were late to work. While I use public transport facilities throughout the practical.
The study period is a time to recognize who is our friend and who is our opponent. Although I am aware that this self-behavior is often childish, my friends still accept it as it is without any grievances being caught by my own ears.
A memory that will be remembered forever. It’s just that I don’t know if they still remember me or vice versa because it’s been a bit too long, I haven’t been in touch with them all.
