Heritage House

Home, it refers to the place where every creature including human beings seek protection from other creatures or natural disasters. We all desperately need a place called home, regardless of whether it is big or small to live in. Among the various houses mentioned. there is a house that is very valuable, not in its price but in the value of its family, it is a heritage house that used to be the residence of our ancestors.

The special thing about this house, there are times when it is very quiet, there are times when it is very noisy. This house is a witness to how parents see their children grow up and then leave the house because they want to build their own life elsewhere.

Time changes, now little children are now growing up. have their own family, they will only return to the heritage house if the parents are still there or want to meet with siblings or relatives at any festive time..

The ancestral home left by my grandparents is now inhabited by my aunt, husband and one of my cousins. This house was built by my aunt after getting her first salary to replace the previous house which was very bad and small. In this house, when grandparents are still alive, it became a gathering place for mothers and sisters who live abroad. I still remember as a child, when all the cousins get together, very lively, sleeping in the living room of the house.

When grandparents die, the atmosphere begins to change, it is very rare to see the atmosphere gathered like when grandparents were still alive. There are even cousins who have not seen each other for a long time until they have two children. Probably assume there is no need to return to this ancestral home again. I believe that this situation is normal for everyone. The heritage house that used to be a gathering place is now being bitten by termites. To be honest it makes me cry sometimes.

The stone staircase seen in the picture. not just any staircase, it is the place most loved by all family members, especially when wanting to take pictures of memories together, definitely full of stairs with children & grandchildren.

In the past, grandparents were often looked down upon by the surrounding community because of poverty. but now those who used to insult, now praise after seeing the success of children and grandchildren.

Human nature, despicable does not claim to be a brother, rich just looks his body and body. Although people say, my late grandfather and grandmother never bear a grudge, even those still deprived of their rights forgiven also.

During the grandfather and grandmother were still alive, the moment that remains in my memory is iftar menu grandfather, cendol, coconut palm fruit. 3 ingredients namely cendol, coconut water and kabung fruit are combined together. It was delicious to make my uncle's willing to come at night to taste it.

Not to mention the taste of Nescafe made by my grandfather, surely the diabetes reading reaches the value of tens but delicious. Even my grandfather likes to keep cats even though he is a village breed, faithfully waiting at all times, including when he goes and returns from a nearby surau.

Grandpa likes to have a thanksgiving feast, especially the asyura porridge stirring program. grandfather's house must be the focus of the villagers present to get together to do whatever activities are organized by the grandfather.
Although now this heritage house is getting gloomy. Many of my mother's siblings have died. but the grandchildren are still there and will definitely stop by if they are in the vicinity.

Holding a certain ceremony still makes the heritage house as the house of choice because it is comfortable to receive invited guests, one of my cousins had a wedding feast in this house. The same goes for the other cousin's engagement party.

Inheritance house heritage, value lies in the family. Although outdated, remains intact because it is a symbol of the family's ancestral heritage that reason we all must live only legacy mute stand.

AKU PELAJAR PENGAJIAN MEDIA,

Walaupun telah lama aku tinggalkan Universiti Malaya, terutama Jabatan Pengajian Media, masih ada kenangan yang terpahat dalam ingatan. Pelbagai kisah tidak tercatat tetapi di coret dalam kamus hidup aku. Setelah melaporkan diri di Kolej Kediaman Ke-7, aku mempunyai tempoh 1-2 minggu untuk menentukan Subjek Major & Minor bagi melengkapkan Ijazah Sarjan Muda nanti.   Pada mulanya aku berminat pada Pengajian Hubungan Antarabangsa & Strategik sebagai subjek major.  Namun pada hari pertama masuk kelas pengenalan, lecture terus bagi assignment yang lebih fokus kepada undang-undang antarabangsa, membuatkan aku terasa takut sangat dengan beban bakal aku pikul nanti. Lagipun aku bukan dalam kategori pelajar pintar seperti orang lain. Mengapa Pegawai Penerangan?

Ketika aku masih bergelar pelajar universiti, telah terdetik persoalan di akal ini. Apakah jenis pekerjaan yang bakal berjaya diperolehi apabila menamatkan pengajian nanti.  Semestinya, di antara alasan mengapa kita belajar adalah untuk mendapatkan pekerjaan yang diimpikan. Aku merupakan pelajar Pengajian Media, Fakulti Sains Sosial, Universiti Malaya. Sepanjang tempoh pengajian, aku lebih fokus mempersiapkan diri bekerja sebagai seorang Pegawai Perhubungan Awam (PRO). Abang aku juga merupakan pelajar Jabatan Pengajian Media. Beliau telah berjaya menjawat jawatan sebagai  Pegawai Penerangan di Jabatan Penerangan Negara, di bawah Kementerian Komunikasi dan Multimedia Malaysia .  Aku secara tidak langsung mula memahami tugas seorang pegawai penerangan jabatan atau kementerian. Tugas pegawai penerangan sebenarnya hampir sama dengan tugas pegawai perhubungan awam (PRO), hanya nama sahaja berbeza, pegawai penerangan lebih kepada sektor kerajaan manakala PRO di sektor swasta.
