Pegawai Singkat Harian (PSH)

In the government sector, there is a contract employee position. The position was created to ease the workload of civil servants as well as temporarily fill vacancies before the recruitment process is done by the Public Service Commission.

I used to be a contract employee for 4 years, starting from 2012 to 2015.

I had to be laid off because the Ministry or Department had exhausted the financial allocation to pay the salaries of contract status employees.

Until now there are still many employees work with the status of contract workers.

Work as a contract staff has many disadvantages compared to permanent staff. Although the performance shown is much better than the permanent staff.

When I was a contract staff member, I was only eligible to receive overtime pay of RM200 for a period of one month.

Although the value of the overtime work done is equivalent to RM2000.

I have been insulted by high -ranking staff. He insisted to me not to forget that I was only a contract staff in the Ministry.

In addition, contract staff were often marginalized by top officials at that time. I understand at this time contract staff began to get the appropriate rights from the government.

Perhaps because of that, I was excited when a friend of mine who was still working as a contract staff got the opportunity to follow the Ministry’s delegation to hold a program abroad.

One opportunity that was quite difficult for me to get when I was in Putrajaya, the most frustrating for me was when there was a program in Sabah.

My ex boss has issued a memo for me to participate in the program there, but at the end. The Head of the Division I was on duty dropped my name at the last minute. Only Allah SWT knows how disappointed I am.

There are many stories I keep when it comes to permanent staff and contracts. Our contractual habits are often denied due rights.

If a program that involves the Minister or the Prime Minister is successful, those who receive praise are permanent staff including excellent service awards. Why does such a situation exist ?.

The advantage of civil servants with pension status is that even if they have disciplinary problems, they will not be fired by the government.

There are many dark sides of civil servants that I met while working in Putrajaya. I gave up because they were the lucky ones to be chosen to work in the public sector despite causing a lot of problems.
