Story of Barber Shop

What’s interesting about a barber shop ?, it’s probably just a shop that provides barber services to its customers. Then the customer pays for the service at a reasonable price.

I believe that each of us has a story of who was the first barber in our life. My father was the first barber in my life, as long as I was in elementary school. Dad who has always been my barber.

It's just that the haircut service provided by my father took a long time compared to the barber shop. Why did dad become a barber ?. Maybe a dad kind of likes his son’s haircut more than at the barber shop.

In this town, many barbershops are opened. It gives people a choice. For me, there are 2 barbershops that are an option every time I cut my hair, the first is a barber shop next to the Ketereh Fire Station and the other is near the district Mosque.

The barbershop next to the Fire Station is the shop that has cut my hair since I was in school. As for the other barbershop, I started cutting hair since I came back to the village.

Among the interesting things when being at the barber shop here are the customers who come. They can chat with each other like old friends, while they have just met at the barber shop.

Usually, the day before the school session opens, after school holidays. All barber shops will be full of customers consisting of school students. Barbers at that time were among the busiest people.

When I lived in Putrajaya, almost 80% of barbers were Indians. In Kelantan, almost 100% of the barbers are Malays. What are the factors that cause such a difference?, is it a demographic factor?.

What differentiates a barbershop in a city like Kuala Lumpur from a barber shop in this small town, in my opinion is the attitude. Barbershops in Kuala Lumpur always operate at the promised time while barbershops here operate according to FEEL. If the barber feels like to open a shop then open it if he feels otherwise then close it.

When we get a haircut at the barbershop, we have to wait for our turn to cut. When waiting for a turn, we will naturally chat with customers who are also waiting for their turn. The atmosphere at that time, for me, was very exciting. A barbershop is not just a place to get a haircut, but a place to meet new friends indirectly.

Usually, we get the latest news about the local community in a coffee shop but sometimes we can get that news in a barbershop.

Therefore, to me a barbershop is not just a barbershop. There are many interesting stories about barbershops. The role of the barbershop is more than what we know so far, in my opinion. Most importantly, if there is no barbershop, something is difficult to describe.
