Candidates & Voters

Now, each party or component involved in the general election this time, only has 2 weeks set by the Election Commission (SPR) to campaign for their party candidates and meet with voter.

Based on my understanding, in this general election. Almost 70% of the candidates are new one and young. Is there enough time for these young candidates to introduce themselves to the voters?

All parties know that the number of voters this time increased, especially the number of young voters. For the first time, Malaysians aged 18 and above are allowed to vote and they are a group that does not see the party but the candidate they will vote for.

New candidates and young voters. It is a transformation in the parliamentary democracy system in Malaysia. In my personal opinion, it is something good for the future of the country.

I just hope that the younger candidate's approach to approaching the voters is different or more aware of what the voters want from their future leaders.

The general election was held during the flood season, despite many times the people gave suggestions. So that no general election is held but parliament is still dissolved.

Therefore, it is hoped that the people will evaluate each candidate. What will the candidate give if there is a flood in the residential area of their constituency as has happened at the moment in several areas.

In my opinion, we are only able to recognize the character of a leader. When we are in trouble, is equal help given or given only to supporters.

I am often heartbroken by the attitude of the political leaders I know, because my father and mother are staunch supporters of a certain political party, but until now they do not seem to be given due appreciation.

This general election, when the candidates representing the party are new candidates. I hope that the way of thinking of candidates and supporters is also new and not too orthodox.

Young voters or those voting for the first time should be wise to evaluate the candidate and the party represented. Don't be easily influenced by other people when voting later. Remember that voting is the right and secret of every Malaysian.
