Does your leader care?

Malaysians are currently in the Full Movement Control Order. (MCO 3.0). Almost all economic activities ceased to operate until June 14, 2021. Of course, the low -income group is the group that is affected by the action taken by the government. Generally, it is not only Malaysia that has taken the action of the full Movement Control Order in an effort to end the infection among the people.

The endorsement package provided by the Government this time, is not the same as the full Movement Control Order that was implemented in March, last year. The reason given by the government to the people, must be that the country is facing financial problems at this time.

In my opinion, this is a good time for Malaysians to know the true attitude of the leaders of the areas where they live. In Malaysia, key community leaders include State Assemblymen and Malaysian Members of Parliament. Each time a General Election is held, registered voters must choose a candidate who will occupy the State Legislative Assembly seat and the Dewan Rakyat seat, Parliament of Malaysia. For the Ketereh Parliament, it involves 3 members of the Kelantan State Assembly and one Member of Parliament.

The best leaders will strive to provide basic assistance covering food raw materials such as Rice, Sugar, Wheat Flour and many more that are desperately needed by the people affected at this time. There are leaders who provide food aid such as chicken eggs, fish or ready -to -eat chicken for the residents of their area.

If before the Pandemic health problems hit the world including Malaysia. Almost all leaders talk more than they act. Now, the people do not want to hear anything from the leaders including political promises. The people want their constituency leaders to be more proactive especially giving financial assistance or whatever they think is appropriate at this time. For sleeping leaders, citizens or registered voters don’t forget to elect another leader in the next general election.

When the Pandemic struck, the people desperately needed help or support from the leaders they elected during the last General Election. Are the people really helped or vice versa ?. I believe every parliamentary constituency, its leaders have different ways of thinking and efforts to help the people of their constituency. There are leaders who are very sensitive to the welfare of the people, there are also leaders who just say hello only.

I once had experience with leaders who were very concerned about the people’s problems. In fact, sometimes we choose the wrong leader. Based on the performance shown during the term appointed. There are leaders who fail to perform as they should. Even blaming the people for all the difficulties faced. Is this the kind of leader the people want ?.
