Infections

The pandemic that is plaguing the world will enter an endemic phase soon, many things happened during 2019 to 2021 related to the pandemic. Indeed, this pandemic is not something that can be considered normal even if we enter the endemic phase because it is so easy to infect humans.

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to chat with one of the bank staff nearby, the staff member shared his experience of being infected by the pandemic a few weeks ago. He was infected by the bank's customers, without any symptoms at the beginning of the infection, causing him to infect other family members at home.

When infected, the bank staff involved had not received the vaccine injection, it caused the level of infection to be more serious until he lost his sense of smell, sense of taste and difficult to breathe. During the treatment process, he tried all kinds of methods or diets recommended to him, he said among the methods or diets practiced, he found that by eating bananas, the healing process was faster than usual. Due to that, until now he who is still in the process of recovery, still practices the consumption of bananas in his daily diet.

Fortunately the situation of the children and wife of the bank staff when infected was not so serious compared to his. When I chatted with the bank staff, he had just received his first dose of vaccine injection, one of the efforts to prevent the situation from getting more serious if infected again.

I think that there are certain types of jobs that are at high risk of being infected as happened to the bank staff involved. Although all SOPs have been followed, there is still an infection due to the contact situation between employees and customers. Most worrying is when the patient is unaware that he or she has been infected, then spreads the virus to family members or friends causing the radius of infection to widen out of control over a period of time.

Therefore, I agree with the action taken by the Public Service Department (PSD) which makes it mandatory for every civil servant throughout Malaysia to receive the vaccine injection before 1 November 2021.An effort to ensure there is no infection in the workplace between staff or between staff and the public.

Currently, the adult vaccination rate in Malaysia is close to 90%, that does not mean we are completely safe from the pandemic. Infection or transmission can still occur because the virus is constantly mutating and producing new variants for humans.
