Vaccines vs. SOPs

 We all have to accept that the pandemic is now entering its 3rd year. Various efforts are carried out, it remains a health problem for the world's population. It is seen to continue to mutate so much so that health experts recommend that people should take an additional vaccine injection which is a 3rd dose or maybe more.

Is a vaccine injection able to cure the infection ?. In my personal opinion, this pandemic will continue to be a world health problem if human beings themselves do not equally work to stop the spread. Since the beginning of the pandemic outbreak, the authorities have set relevant SOPs on how to prevent infection, yet are those SOPs fully complied with by the public ?. Based on my observations in my own residential area, there are still a few people who are not serious in complying with the SOPs set by the authorities.

The recommended SOP is very simple, i.e. don’t be in a crowded place, keep a distance from each other, at least at a distance of 1 meter. Always wear a face mask when in open areas, and always wash hands with soap or sanitizer. To me, the list of SOPs is very easy to practice but why are there still those who do not follow it ?. Perhaps the answer is stubbornness, a sense of self that will not be infected and infects others especially loved ones i.e. family members. When the authorities do monitoring and impose compounds on those who do not comply with the SOPs, we get angry when the cause comes from ourselves.

Among the SOPs that are often not adhered to by the public based on my observations in my residential area, not keeping distances especially when in a diner, then not wearing a face mask when in an open area. The face mask is only placed in the pocket of the shirt or pants. The face mask is only worn when people see the authorities. When the MCO was implemented, many eateries were closed, but that did not stop the people in my residential area from gathering more than 5 other people to do activities that involved the public.

When I was at the Quarantine Center, among those infected I met at the Center were those who gathered in open locations and did not comply with SOPs. When infected, only realize what they did before was wrong and became the cause of the infection. To me, if the people themselves fail to comply with the SOPs, even if they have been vaccinated a few times, the infection will continue to occur and it is very frustrating especially for those who comply with the SOPs. Being stubborn and selfish, is a trait that is the cause of this pandemic that never ends after entering the 3rd year for Malaysia.

AKU PELAJAR PENGAJIAN MEDIA,

Walaupun telah lama aku tinggalkan Universiti Malaya, terutama Jabatan Pengajian Media, masih ada kenangan yang terpahat dalam ingatan. Pelbagai kisah tidak tercatat tetapi di coret dalam kamus hidup aku. Setelah melaporkan diri di Kolej Kediaman Ke-7, aku mempunyai tempoh 1-2 minggu untuk menentukan Subjek Major & Minor bagi melengkapkan Ijazah Sarjan Muda nanti.   Pada mulanya aku berminat pada Pengajian Hubungan Antarabangsa & Strategik sebagai subjek major.  Namun pada hari pertama masuk kelas pengenalan, lecture terus bagi assignment yang lebih fokus kepada undang-undang antarabangsa, membuatkan aku terasa takut sangat dengan beban bakal aku pikul nanti. Lagipun aku bukan dalam kategori pelajar pintar seperti orang lain. BAGAIMANA MENJADI TELEMARKETING?

Aku ingin kongsi pengalaman bekerja sebagai Telemarketing bagi sebuah Institusi Pendidikan di bandar Kota Bharu, seingat aku sekitar tahun 2008. Walaupun bekerja atas nama status kontrak, ia memberi pengalaman baru kepada aku, secara peribadi.Maklumlah budak pengajian media dari Universiti Malaya tiba-tiba jadi budak marketing. Apabila aku tamat latihan "on job training" di sebuah GLC yang base di Airports Subang pada tahun 2007. Aku mengambil keputusan balik kampung untuk menjaga ibu yang kini tinggal seorang setelah kematian abah. Aku mengambil inisiatif menghantar resume ke seluruh institusi atau organisasi yang dirasakan sesuai di sekitar Kota Bharu pada awal tahun 2008. Salah sebuah organisasi yang aku hantar permohonan terbuka telah menghubungi aku untuk hadir ke sesi temuduga yang aku tidak mengetahui apa jawatannya.
