When Death Invites

The reality of a life, filled with various unexpected things. As a human being who is a part of that life, one should accept everything with open arms even if it is a grief. Once again, my large family was overwhelmed with sadness, mourning a death. Unexpected parting, the husband of my aunt passed away suddenly. Usually there are conditions that are the cause of all deaths such as prolonged illness.

Indeed many things in this life inevitably happen beyond human expectation. Among them is death, but are we all really prepared to face a death? Yesterday was different compared to today and tomorrow. So we must all always be prepared to face all the possibilities that await us.

Aunt and husband have no children, live in an inheritance house. My uncle only has a small coffee shop while my aunt only sells cakes. To me, their lives are quite simple, the nieces and nephews who now each have a career definitely hand out a small monthly contribution to them to cover their daily expenses.

I wonder why it is so easy for a death to happen in our family. The last time our family members died was at the end of 2019. The mother’s younger brother died due to kidney failure. Before he died, my uncle managed to get treatment for almost a month at the Kota Bharu hospital, Kelantan.

All the preparations for my aunt's husband's funeral went smoothly. Many neighbors and friends gave help in terms of money or energy. Meanwhile, family members who live far away, such as Kuala Lumpur, did not have time to attend the pilgrimage for the last time before the body was taken to the cemetery.

No more uncles who often give any help in our family. Whatever problems are faced must be on the spirits who are asked for help. Now everything remains a memory. The fact is that we all mourn the death of our uncle.

On his last day, the uncle still continued his routine as usual, sending one of his wife’s nephews to the bus station early in the morning, then helping his nephew’s husband to the clinic late at midnight because his nephew’s husband had health problems. Even before going to bed, according to my aunt's story, my uncle had a short break on the stairs while smoking the last cigarette in my opinion.

Such is life, every time there is a human birth in the world there must be a death among human beings. Those of us who are still alive must be open -minded to accept everything with an open heart because maybe tomorrow or the next day it will be our turn to face a death.
