Debt Outstanding

I am very convinced that more than 50% of human beings on this earth have outstanding debts or continue to commit debts because of satisfying the demands of lust. Finally, when you die, not property that is inherited but the debt still outstanding.

The sad situation is that the family members of the deceased did not know that the deceased had a large debt and did not pay it. Everything is only revealed after death, Islam is very concerned about debt. The soul of a Muslim will not be calm if he has debts that have not been paid during his life. It is the responsibility of family members to try to settle the debts of the deceased.

I currently only have debts with the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN). With my situation not working at the moment, it is very difficult for me to settle the debt financing the lessons. I still hope that one day before I die, all the debts can be paid because I have no wife or children who will help me when I die later.

In general, this debt issue is not a new issue because many young people are stuck with debt. Especially those who have just started working with low starting salaries but their lavish way of life has resulted in them being stuck in uncontrollable debt. Fortunately, the government has an agency that can help Malaysians who are struggling with debt by helping to control their debt, namely the Credit Counseling and Management Agency (AKPK).

Turning to the debt of the deceased, the debt must be paid in Islam. How to solve it, depends on the heirs of the deceased. Just for every couple that is husband and wife, do not keep secret to the couple about your debt. It will be difficult for the couple when the debtor dies. The most important thing is that every couple should not trust their partner too much when it comes to money because death is definitely not when it will happen. Upon leaving the world, there must be a party who shows up, stating that the husband or wife still has debts that have not been paid in full.

If the value is below one thousand dollars it may be legalized. But if the value reaches thousands of ringgit, not many are willing to legalize the debt. The usual money lender will legitimize the value of the debt to the deceased. Only at the same time hope that the deceased heir will clear the remaining debts.

Once again I would like to emphasize that the issue of outstanding debt is not an issue that can be taken lightly. Islam strongly emphasizes the obligation of Muslims to settle debts even after death. In addition, the community will say bad things if the deceased leaves a lot of debt that cannot be paid by his heirs.
