A NEW NORMA ERA

 Starting at the end of 2019 and until now health issues are still the main issue of discussion or debate in the world community at this time. Pandemic is going on, day by day has led to millions of the world's population dead.

Some are still looking for the cause of the onset of this pandemic, some are trying to find a solution by producing vaccines as a serious prevention measure. The world knows that a person is easily infected with this virus, can be treated only takes time to heal. Only the rate of infection is faster than the rate of healing causing many who are too late to be successfully cured.

Thus began the life of the new norm introduced by the government, to help stop the spread of infection due to the rate of infection exceeding the rate of healing at one time. Prevention is one of the effective ways to stop the spread of infection. However, it requires the cooperation of all parties, including the government and the people.

The life of the new norm meant to refer to the situation in Malaysia is that people are asked to wear face masks when they are outside the house, especially when they are in a crowded area. It may at first cause a feeling of discomfort, but eventually we will get used to wearing it when in public.

However, when starting a new way of life, there must be parties who do not agree or do not comply with the way recommended by the government. People living outside or in the suburbs who are accustomed to not adopting new life norms, do not wear face masks when going out or being in the public eye. When the government imposes a compound on the people for failing to comply with new norms such as wearing a face mask. the government is to blame while the people do not want to help themselves by adhering to the new norms of life.

In addition to having to wear a face mask in public. The government also asked the public to maintain social distance from each other. This is to prevent a person from becoming infected through water droplets through the mouth or body of an infected person. If we refer to cases that occur in Malaysia, usually the transmission that occurs involves family members through touch. Cross-district or state-permitted activities previously allowed cause the infected individual to be outside the area such as back home. Gathering with family members in the village, eventually became a pandemic infection leading to death.

Another life of the new norm that should always be practiced is hand sanitation especially when returning home. This is to ensure that there is no risk of infection among family members. Usually when we are outside the home area, whether we are aware or otherwise about the object we are holding and it is possible that while holding it there is a virus attached to the area. Therefore, we should all always sanitize our hands after touching something outside our own home area.

The fact that we all have to accept that the current situation is completely changing. Although some countries have succeeded in not recording any cases of infection but preventive measures as mentioned before, are always in practice. Everyone misses the situation before the pandemic, but everything remains memories for now, due to the period to ensure the pandemic really ends up taking a long time. Just a little mistake in making a policy, the effect is very profound and it takes a long time to rectify, a fact that we all have to accept.

The way we work, worship or educate children also enters the way of the new norms. The saddest thing is when many people face financial problems due to job losses caused by the pandemic that hit. Unemployment is on the rise, the world is in turmoil even though vaccines have been successfully produced. The new norm is absolutely boring life but it was a fact of life due to our own cause a pandemic occurs.

Maybe we are entering a new era of human civilization as it happened before. As a result of living too full of freedom before, now we are trapped by our own mistakes. Maybe Earth is being reset back through the illness that plagued humans, millions have lost their lives, millions still live miserable. That value should we all pay for the impact caused by our own vanity.

AKU PELAJAR PENGAJIAN MEDIA,

Walaupun telah lama aku tinggalkan Universiti Malaya, terutama Jabatan Pengajian Media, masih ada kenangan yang terpahat dalam ingatan. Pelbagai kisah tidak tercatat tetapi di coret dalam kamus hidup aku. Setelah melaporkan diri di Kolej Kediaman Ke-7, aku mempunyai tempoh 1-2 minggu untuk menentukan Subjek Major & Minor bagi melengkapkan Ijazah Sarjan Muda nanti.   Pada mulanya aku berminat pada Pengajian Hubungan Antarabangsa & Strategik sebagai subjek major.  Namun pada hari pertama masuk kelas pengenalan, lecture terus bagi assignment yang lebih fokus kepada undang-undang antarabangsa, membuatkan aku terasa takut sangat dengan beban bakal aku pikul nanti. Lagipun aku bukan dalam kategori pelajar pintar seperti orang lain. BAGAIMANA MENJADI TELEMARKETING?

Aku ingin kongsi pengalaman bekerja sebagai Telemarketing bagi sebuah Institusi Pendidikan di bandar Kota Bharu, seingat aku sekitar tahun 2008. Walaupun bekerja atas nama status kontrak, ia memberi pengalaman baru kepada aku, secara peribadi.Maklumlah budak pengajian media dari Universiti Malaya tiba-tiba jadi budak marketing. Apabila aku tamat latihan "on job training" di sebuah GLC yang base di Airports Subang pada tahun 2007. Aku mengambil keputusan balik kampung untuk menjaga ibu yang kini tinggal seorang setelah kematian abah. Aku mengambil inisiatif menghantar resume ke seluruh institusi atau organisasi yang dirasakan sesuai di sekitar Kota Bharu pada awal tahun 2008. Salah sebuah organisasi yang aku hantar permohonan terbuka telah menghubungi aku untuk hadir ke sesi temuduga yang aku tidak mengetahui apa jawatannya.
